The leaves in Richmond, Va. are just starting to crimson and with each cooler night and shorter day, people start to think holidays and family gatherings. ¬†Is this your autumn to fall into a new home? ¬† I can give you a few reasons why it is something to consider. ¬† In this installation of Ask Meredith Monday’s, with Reflections Homes – Keller Williams Realty, we talk about the reasons to not talk yourself out of a move.
First, the inventory from the late summer listings is still good and available. ¬†Folks, in and around Richmond, Va. there are some CUTE homes on the market. ¬† Westover Hills is a gingerbread cottage community with some renovated beauties and some of the most charming exteriors in town. ¬†Mechanicsville, Va. is arguably some of the best house for the money right now as well. ¬† I have a listing at 9096 Lunette Lane in Bluffs At Bell Creek recently priced at $319,000.00 and for Hanover High School that’s an amazing price for a home that has all of the checkboxes marked. ¬†The West End, and especially neighborhoods like Dunncroft in Henrico, Va., have some spectacular opportunities to transition from being a tenant to homeowner. ¬†I’ll be putting a totally renovated home on the market in a few weeks for under $220,000.00!
Second, interest rates are holding steady.  We always hear the sky is falling with the interest rates.  Take this to heart Рdo what is right for you at the right time, and you will always come out ahead.
Third, home prices are ‘falling’. ¬† This is an annual trend that happens historically every year. ¬†While it’s a ‘all boats rise and fall’ type of chart for existing homeowners, if you’re a first time homebuyer and can wait until fall or winter to purchase a home you’ll save money.
Fourth, some lenders have down payment assistants in grant form and the money hasn’t run out yet. ¬†Ask Meredith Monday’s is a great time to get more details on programs like this that will help people who just don’t have the money for the down payment and can manage to swing the slightly higher interest rate in order to secure home-ownership.
For first time home-buyers, or someone thinking their house isn’t going to fit a blended family or extra folks at Thanksgiving and Christmas, having a conversation is not a commitment to purchase. ¬†However if you don’t ask yourself about the next steps in life, what doors might not open if you pass up the conversation.
